A Real Cat in the Hat Story

Back in the late 1800’s, in an underground Opal mine in Australia there lived a favored calico cat named Precious Opal. The owner of the loved cat would often feed her scraps from his lunch bucket. When Opal died in 1896, the cat’s owner was very sad and put his beloved cat in his favorite hat and buried her in the floor of the mine. The mine was closed for 50 years and when it was later opened the new owner was surprised to unearth a real authentic Cat in the Hat! The story goes on to say that the cat’s remains had turned to a beautiful pink opal. Now what do you think of that?....the Cat in the Hat…. e-mail “Miss Janet”
